You are absolutely right: painting is the art of relationships. Everything changed once I began to sense this and paint based on that feeling. I used to think, "If only my instructor at the academy had explained this better—less formally!" But then I realized that you cannot grasp the essence of relationships simply by hearing about them; we learn only when we live through those relationships with the utmost sincerity. After a decade of working as an artist, I am still learning to shape the relationships within my work, aligning them with the relationships within myself—more subtly, more precisely, and more organically. My mastery of this process grows as I myself change and evolve. Now, these processes are inseparable; colors resonate within me like music, shifting and harmonizing as they enter into relationship with one another.

Thanks again for your work, and for your deep and thoughtful approach. I am delighted to be here .

I answered one of those colour season questionnaires and my answers were equal for three seasons so I thought 'well I'm on my own, I'll just go with my instincts' and sold the book. It's reassuring that to hear you dont believe in them either.

I chose white/cream and French grey (purple tint) for our cottage, mainly to serve as a base for the art we own. Quite often artist friends say our house reminds them of Kettle's Yard and I know it's influenced us. However, just the other week we bought a really bright painting by the artist Charlotte Cornish, a friend of many years, and it has given me so much joy and lifted our whole sitting room, that I know repainting the cottage is coming. I've loved your Graphenstone collection from its launch and I can see colours there I want to try. It will all have to wait for a little longer because my spare time is dedicated to finishing a novel (78000 of the first draft done... all objectivity lost as I see-saw between satisfaction and disappointment) but when I do finally complete it, I intend to start and also to look at joining your club.
