Who, What, Why

Hailed by The Sunday Times as “the Interiors Guru”, Michelle Ogundehin is passionate about the power of your home. This Susbstack, Better Home: Better Health with Michelle Ogundehin is her exploration of how our homes shape our health, mood, behaviour, and sense of self — often in ways we barely notice.

She’s spent the past two decades working across design, media, and wellbeing, including as Editor-in-Chief of ELLE Decoration, an author, and a judge on Interior Design Masters. Over time, she says her focus has shifted away from how homes look, and towards how they work — psychologically, physiologically, and emotionally.

Here, she writes about the home as a health tool.

This means looking at the relationship between habits and habitats: how light, materials, clutter, layout, routines, and atmosphere quietly influence how we feel and function. It also means acknowledging that our homes are not neutral — they can support us, or subtly undermine us, depending on how they’re shaped and used.

The writing here spans several strands, reflected in 6 different sections:

– essays that explore the idea of Home as Health
Room-by-Room reflections on real domestic conditions, plus decorating intel
– pieces on Inner Life, grounding, and how to live well emotionally
– work on sustainability, materials, and Cleanest Greenest ways of being
– a Monthly Letter that draws the threads together setting the tone for the season ahead
Japan, essays influenced by her love of Japanese culture and philosophy
- Interior Design Masters, her personal reflections on the show

Her wider work builds on the ideas explored here, offering direct ways to engage with the home as a tool for health. This includes:

The Happy Insiders Club
A membership space for people who want to work with their homes more deliberately and sustainably, moving room by room and season by season with practical frameworks, guided resets, and reflective prompts.

Home Therapy™ Diagnostic Consultations
One-to-one sessions focused on insight, prioritisation, and direction. These are not interior design consultations, but strategic conversations designed to help you see your home — and your patterns within it — more clearly.

Home Therapy™ Sprints
Short, time-bound programmes designed to help you focus on one area at a time — such as sleep, clutter, or reset — without overwhelm. Each Sprint offers clear structure and gentle momentum, for people who want to make progress independently, but with guidance.

Workbooks and further resources
Standalone publications and resources for those who prefer to work independently, including guided resets and practical frameworks designed for real homes and real lives.
