According to Pinterest, while we love our back gardens (if we’re lucky enough to have one), in 2023 all eyes will be on the front-of-house. “Rising searches suggest that Boomers to Gen X will be pampering their porches and dolling up their doorways” reveals the site.

Front hallway decor idea searches are up 190%. Front door transformations 85%, and porches and porticos up 40%. “Even as house prices continue to rise, people will look to add value to their homes in personal and budget-friendly ways. Hallway and porch makeovers may sound small, but they can pack a big punch for people who want welcoming exteriors to match their individualistic interiors.”

Bang on say I! After all, there was a reason I put Hallways as the first home zone discussed in my book — mood breaker or mood maker, the entrance to your home is a space of great subliminal power. And the creation of a truly supportive environment involves harnessing every possible opportunity to give yourself an energy boost, beginning the minute you cross your threshold.

Besides, in so many homes, hallways are Cinderella spaces, forgotten and overlooked in favour of larger rooms, even though it is actually here that the story of your home starts. And yet, as the saying goes, ‘Home is not a place, it’s a feeling”, so how do you want to feel when you first come home?
